Satellite - Satellite internet
works in virtually the same way as Satellite TV. The equipment you will
need to receive satellite internet are a mini-satellite dish and a modem.
No phone line is necessary to receive high speed internet via satellite.
The main advantage of high speed internet via satellite is that it's
available everywhere (anywhere in the US with a clear view of the
southern sky)
Broadband satellite is able to give customers in rural areas a better
connection than they might receive from their phone or cable company
anyway, especially if those connections are distance sensitive.
Disadvantages of Satellite Internet:
Cost of equipment and monthly access were prohibitive in the past,
but not so much anymore.
Much the same as satellite tv once again. Weather can be a factor.
If you live in a climate with lots of snowfall, make sure your satellite
dish is installed in an easily accessible area. If the dish becomes
snowpacked, you will need to remove the snow.
